How pet-friendly is Balham, South London?

If you’re a pet owner (or prospective pet owner), finding the perfect place to live can be a bit of a challenge.

Not every location is pet-friendly, and some places are better for pets than others.

So, what’s the verdict on Balham? Is it a good place for pets?

In this blog post, we’ll take a look at what pets need in a location and how Balham stacks up. We’ll also discuss how location can affect pets and share some tips on how to choose the best place to live with your furry friend!

What pets need from a location

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as every pet is different.

However, there are some things that all pets need from a location in order to be happy and healthy.

Some of the most important factors include:

  • A safe and secure space to play
  • Enough room to move around
  • Access to outdoor space
  • Access to food and water
  • A comfortable & quiet place to sleep

Is Balham pet-friendly?

Balham is a great place to live with pets, as it has everything that they need!

There are plenty of green spaces for them to explore, and plenty of shops and restaurants that allow pets inside.

Balham is in the fortunate position of being a small district surrounded by three commons – Tooting Common, Clapham Common and Wandsworth Common. There’s no shortage of vast green space to let your pet run wild!

There are also several vets in the area, so you can rest assured that your pet will be well taken care of if they ever need it.

Our experience with a dog in Balham

In February, I and my partner had the privilege of looking after a young cocker spaniel for 2 weeks.

We were shocked at how many restaurants and shops allowed us to bring the dog in. It’s a great atmosphere for pets around Balham.

The abundance of green space that was available to us in the three nearby Commons was a huge plus. We never felt restricted by concrete!

There were always lots of people out and about walking their dogs. Late night walks were no issue – we never felt unsafe in Balham. No matter what time it is, there are always people around.

Final thoughts

On the whole, we absolutely loved how pet-friendly Balham was.

There were always plenty of places to go with a dog, and the locals were always friendly and happy to see our pup.

We would definitely recommend living in Balham if you have a pet!

It’s the perfect balance for people who love spending time outdoors whilst wanting to embrace that inner-city lifestyle.
